We are pleased to announce we have a new missionary we are now supporting. Gabe Wee has been part of The Street for many years and has recently felt a call to missions. After spending some time with YWAM in Tauranga, Gabe is heading to Nepal to work with Oral Mother Tongue translations. This approach orally translates Scriptures accurately and clearly into the heart language of people groups. Gabe is excited to be involved in this, and to have the opportunity to learn more as he works amongst different languages and cultures. Please keep Gabe in your prayers as he begins this new journey.
Kia ora e te whānau and happy New Year!
Welcome back to East after the summer break. We hope you have had a special Christmas and at least some sort of break over the last few weeks.
We are looking forward to kicking this year off with a new sermon series, "Rhythms of Grace" - learning about the practices that Jesus himself anchored himself with, in a busy and demanding life. We pray that as we put these rhythms into practice at the start of this new year, we will be able to prepare ourselves well for all that God has in store for each of us, and our church, in 2025.
Simon, the East leadership team and I are full of faith and expectant for an incredible year as we pursue Jesus together and cry out to God to move powerfully in our community. We're looking forward to being on this adventure with you all this year.
Much love,
Simon, Jenny and the East Leadership Team

Christians Against Poverty gives us a unique opportunity to reach people in our communities who are struggling with debt for whatever reason. Our CAP Hampers once again went out to individuals and families across the region over the Christmas season. This would not be possible without the generosity of our amazing Street family, so on behalf of our clients, thank you for your willingness to contribute so lavishly. These hampers are such a blessing to those who receive them. Thank you so much!
We also put on a BBQ for clients in the Wellington region, so here is a short video from that day.
We kick back off in Kids Zone on the 26th of Jan 2025.
Kids Zone begins the year with the same series as the adult services. It is called Rhythms of Grace. Jesus anchored his life with practices that kept him connected to the Father and focused on the mission for which he came. We will dive into the practices of Silence & Solitude, Hospitality, Sabbath and finishing the last week of February with Generosity.
Kids Zone Junior learns from the following Bible stories under the topics God Loves Me and God Created Me. Jesus is Coming, Jesus Calms the Storm, Food from Heaven, Samson and Noahs Ark. Kids Zone Junior uses the Beginner’s Bible.
Come along and join with the other Miramar churches for some carol singing outside the Roxy Cinema. It's a great opportunity for our churches to be visible in the community, and also helping people to think about the real meaning of Christmas.
When/Where: Saturday 21st December 11am-12pm outside the Roxy Cinema
On Sunday 5th January we are hosting our friends from the other Miramar churches and it would be great if as part of our welcome we are able to provide lots of yummy baking. If you are able to help please let Gwyneth or one of the Connections team know!
It was wonderful to have Ryan here with us a few weeks ago, sharing about the work of Open Doors. They wanted us to pass on a message of thanks to you all for your generosity. Together as a church we raised $2670 which will now contribute to the incredible work they do with persecuted Christians around the world. Thank you so much.
We will be unable to hold our services at Papakowhai School over summer, so we will instead be meeting at Paremata-Plimmerton Rugby Football Club, Pascoe Avenue, Paremata.
The dates we will be at the Football Club are:
Sunday 15th and 22nd Dec (no service on 29th Dec)
All Sundays in January
Sunday 2nd Feb
See you there!
Some of our in-person services take a break over the summer, please see the calendar below to find out which Sundays church is on at your Location! Our online services are also available to watch HERE! Head to your Location page for more detailed information on what is happening at your local gathering.

Over the summer we will be joining with 3 other churches in Miramar for combined services like we have done for the last few years. This is such a wonderful opportunity to experience services at the churches we are in relationship with in our local area, as well as worshipping together with other believers. It also gives the pastors and teams from each church a bit of a break over the summer! If you are around, here's all the information you need.
29 December - Gateway Baptist
5 January - The Street East (Miramar Central School Hall)
12 January - Miramar Salvation Army
19th January - St Aidan's
All services are at 10am. Our regular gatherings will resume on January 26th.
Nelson and Rachel Carreño, our Missionaries we support from Mexico will be in Wellington for a few weeks, and if anyone would like to catch up with them, we are hosting an Afternoon Tea on 1st December from 2:30 -4:30 pm at the Life Centre in town.

Marriage is less about the big milestones and more about the everyday relationship. Keeping a marriage thriving from the day you say 'I do', till death do you part, needs ongoing investment.
Choosing to do one thing every year to enrich your marriage feeds into this investment.
Since 2019, Families Ministry at The Street has produced a short, summer refresh sheet for married couples. Some simple ideas to reflect on and perhaps action over the summer to fuel the fire for the coming year.

We are celebrating the appointment of Josiah Nevell as Location Pastor of our Mt Vic Location. This is an incredible answer to prayer and we are so grateful to God.
If you’re not a part of Mt Vic, you may recognise Josiah from leading worship online or at Together. He loves people and has a desire to walk alongside them through the highs and lows. He’s a gifted and humble leader who desires to see the church love Jesus more wholeheartedly. We are so looking forward to him joining the team.
His appointment is as an Associate Location Pastor which acknowledges he has the character and commitment to lead but needs time and investment to develop the experience. It means he has the same job description but will carry this out under the supervision of Simon for the first 12-18 months.
Please pray for Josiah as he steps into this new season. You can send encouragement and congratulations to him at josiah.nevell@thestreet.org.nz
Check out this video to meet Josiah
We start November carrying on in the Pillars series looking at Church Leadership and Baptism.

To finish the year, on the 1st of December Kids Zone takes a look back over 2024 and all the wonderful truths we have learnt about God. This is a week not to be missed.
