School Holiday - Kids Camps

Parents - are you looking for things to do in the school holidays? Christian kids camps are a fabulous option! Kids build incredible friendships, enjoy loads of fun and have the opportunity to grow closer to Jesus through teaching and times of worship and prayer. Two of the camps we are familiar with are El Rancho in Waikanae and SUNZ (Scripture Union New Zealand)
Sometimes, cost can be a barrier to attending camps. Both these organisations have support for this if needed.
Click here to read about the SUNZ cap (for kids in school years 6-8)
Click here to read about El Rancho (for kids aged 8-12, and leadership opportunities for 14+)
If you would like to receive up-coming registration dates and information for future camps, please contact these organisations so you don't miss out. Often camp registrations fill up quickly!

Kids Zone - August

Kids Zone Continues exploring the Lord’s prayer through ‘Your Will Be Done’ and ‘Give us, Forgive us’.
The last two weeks in August they begin a new series focussed on the Parables Jesus taught through the Gospels.

Kids Zone Junior finishes the ‘God Created Me’ mini series looking at the story from 1 Samuel: A Good Heart and then runs through the ‘I Can Love Jesus’ mini series through the stories Daniel and the Lions Den, Fiery Furnace and Lovely Thoughts. The last week in August they look at The Lame Man to uncover how they can love others.

Right Now Media

As an organisation we have access to Right Now Media, an incredible online tool with over 20,000 Bible Study videos. The studies range from specific books of the Bible through to topics such as relationships, parenting, doubt, suffering, those pitched at children and much, much more. If you have not already accessed Right Now Media, you can sign up here now. If you have forgotten this tool is available, you can dive back in at any time. You may even see some familiar faces on a couple of the video studies available. Email families@thestreet.org.nz if you spot a video The Street Church has published, and we will send you a chocolate fish!

Spiritual Health Survey

As a church seeking to help one another become total followers of Jesus Christ, our annual Spiritual Health Survey helps us check in on how we’re going. Some people find this to be a helpful moment for personal reflection. As a church, it enables us to celebrate overall progress and identify areas that need investment. It can take as little as 10 minutes to complete and the more people who take part, the more useful the results, so every response matters. The link to this year’s survey will be included in the Senior Pastor Monthly Update that will land in your inbox on August 4th.

Meals on Wheels - bless the community opportunity

Meals on Wheels is a NZ wide community service providing meals to people who are unable to prepare their own meals. In Wellington it is overseen by Capital Coast Health and the meals are delivered by community volunteers. St Aidan's have been providing the volunteers for the route on the Peninsula for a number of years, but their team has recently reduced in size and they're struggling to fill all the roster slots.

The need is for two people (one to drive and one to deliver), one Wednesday a month, to pick up the meals at 11am, deliver them to the homes on the route and return the empty containers. It takes about 1 hour in total, including pick up and return. They are also looking for anyone available to fill in when volunteers are away or sick.

If this is something you are interested in, please talk to Jenny or email east@thestreet.org.nz

Welcome to Georgia Eilering

We are pleased to announce Georgia Eilering has been employed as our newest staff member.

Anna Watson is heading into a 12 month Maternity Leave period as she and Matt welcome their third baby boy. Georgia has been appointed to this part time position while Anna is on leave. Georgia will start on 30th June and from then be the Central contact for Life Groups and Connections.
The senior leadership are excited about this opportunity to develop Georgia and see where God would lead her.

Keep reading to find out a bit more about Georgia.

Kia ora everyone! My name is Georgia and I am SUPER excited, blessed, and grateful to get to work with you all. My hope in this role is ultimately to cultivate and nurture relationships with other people and with the Lord - my heart behind everything is God calling us to delight in Him, and so I try to keep a posture of positivity, fun, and joy in everything I do. While Anna is away, I hope to journey alongside the work she has done and add to it in a fruitful, effective way!

Little bit about me... I was born and raised in Whangarei, Northland and grew up in The Salvation Army church before moving to Wellington in 2021 for university - studying a Bachelor of Arts in Media and English. I had a friend attending The Street Night and started coming along, fell in love with the community, and never wanted to leave! For the past year and a half, I have been living and working at a Christian camp and conference center in Calabasas, California - this has become a kind-of second home for me. Working and serving in camp ministry helped me realise that God was calling me to continue down a path of servitude, and that my love for working with people in creative ways is a gift He has given me to walk out and use to build the Kingdom. I also work for Northern Easter Camp as their Comms/Creative Area Head (I call this my side hustle). I LOVE traveling, and have found my closest relationships and richest experiences come from stepping outside of my comfort zone and trusting in God's goodness. This new role for me has come at the perfect time, and I cannot wait to step back into The Street community as a more refined, on-fire-in-the-spirit version of myself.
