Sacrifice and Glory: Daily Meditations in The Epistle to the Hebrews by Harvey G. Rees-Thomas

$10.00

The Epistle to the Hebrews is a part of the Bible that describes the work of Jesus Christ as the Great High Priest and Mediator between God and people. Many Old Testament Bible pictures and descriptions of sacrifice and atonement are presented and explained in relation to their total fulfilment in Jesus Christ.

Hebrews is the Bible’s guide to worshipping the God and Father of Jesus Christ. The central figure is the person of Jesus Christ. He is the person who has paid the ultimate sacrifice. He is the person who inivtes us to share in his ultimate glory. It is all about the Sacrifice and Glory of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

Many people would like to know more about the Bible, but find it difficult to understand in the context of our modern society and culture. This book was developed in 2012-2014 as part of a two-year bible Class teaching programme for tertiary students and young working people. The first edition in 2014 was limited to 100 copies. As a result of feedback from that publication, an extensive revision has resulted in this 2017 edition.

The author highlights the truth of a particularly important part of the Bible. There are many excellent commentaries on Hebrews. This book is not so much a commentary as a devotional. It is a year of daily meditations, with some explanatory commentary.

The author has been an elder of The Street City Church in Wellington, New Zealand. He has been a secondary school principal, business consultant and change manager, and has served on the boards/councils of Scripture Union NZ, The Bible Society New Zealand, HCJB NZ, and was the Founding Chairman of Ronald McDonald House Wellington. He has been a preacher and teacher throughout his working life.
