Description

As the third person of the Trinity, there is more controversy in orthodox Christian circles about the Holy Spirit than the Father and the Son. Some people have felt burned by hyper-experiential services where things ‘got weird’, where others have barely heard him talked about within their church. At The Street, we desire a Biblically-based understanding of the Holy Spirit and a Biblically-based experience of his presence. He is how God dwells with us between the empty tomb and the return of Christ, and we’re missing out if we don’t embrace the one of whom Jesus said, “it is for your good that I am going away” - so he can send the Spirit.

Today, Simon Gill looks at the baptism of the Spirit and what is true for every believer, no matter where they land on this issue.

One of the deep longings of the human heart is to live with God. Augustine said, "Our heart is restless until it rests in you." God's desire is also to dwell with us - he did it in the garden, and he'll do it fully again on the New Earth. But what about now? How does God dwell with us now? By his Spirit.
