Angela Drake, one of our East members is looking for somewhere for herself and her golden retriever, Gus to live from May/June to September this year. Either a short term rental or a house sitting situation would be ideal. If you know of something that might be suitable could you please get in touch with Jenny by emailing her at jenny.gill@thestreet.org.nz, and she can connect you with Angela.
How do we interact with and love our neighbour when we hold differing values? How do we raise children to be confident in who God has made them to be?
Join Richard Black for a seminar titled: 'Cultivating a discipleship mindset to raise the next generation in a diverse world'
If you come from a traditional Christian perspective, the changes in our society around gender diversity and sexuality can be confusing and confronting. This seminar will look at how Christians can be confident in their faith while maintaining an openness to others who hold different perspectives and values.
Date: Saturday 22nd June Time: 9am - 3:30pm
Venue: The Street Church, 9 Hania St, Mt Victoria
Tickets: $20 per person
All people are welcome so invite your friends, neighbours, colleagues and family members.
Together will be a significant moment as all six of our Locations gather in one place on Sunday 5th May at Wellington College.
We are praying that this would be a moment of powerful encounter with the Lord as we worship Him together as one church.
The time to register is TODAY - to ensure we have a seat for everyone and to plan accordingly for Kids Zone.
Peter Martin was announced as a new elder for East at Together back in October last year. On Sunday April 14th, Matt Conway, our Chair of Elders, along with our Senior Pastors, Simon and Jenny, will be commissioning Peter in our Sunday Service. We are grateful to Peter for stepping into this role in our church.
Are you keen to be a part of the team that makes Sundays happen? If so we’d love to hear from you! We’re especially in need of people in the following areas, but anyone is welcome to put their hand up! Full training provided, all you need is a willingness to be a part of the team :)
Connections - The friendly faces you meet at the door on Sundays, the Connections team is there to make people feel welcome by greeting people, and preparing morning tea and Communion.
Media - The Media team make sure we can sing along by putting up the words on the screen and running the videos.
Sound - The Sound team make the speakers and mics work, and make it sound great.

How do we interact with and love our neighbour when we hold differing values? How do we raise children to be confident in who God has made them to be? Traditional ways of communicating have often taken a defensive or argumentative approach. Jesus was never on the defensive. This seminar will look at how Christians can be confident in their faith while maintaining an openness to others who hold different perspectives and values.
The seminar is targeted at parents, but will be fruitful for anyone involved in raising or working with children or for adults wondering about these questions for themselves in their community or workplace.

We have invited churches from around Wellington to join us for this event. Invite your friends, family and parents from your community. And above all, please be praying for Richard and every attendee as we wrestle with these important topics
The Prayer Room in the Life Centre at 21 Hania Street has been revamped and relocated and is open 24/7!
We know that prayer is THE most important thing we can be doing as a church community. Pete Grieg, the founder of 24/7 prayer, said: ”I'm actually not into prayer. I’m into Jesus, so we talk. I don't believe in the power of prayer. I believe in the power of God. So I ask for his help. A lot.” We agree!
To use the prayer room, book online through the sign-ups tab on the app or the events section on the website. The space can accommodate groups of up to 25 people.
Our Annual General Meeting (AGM) is coming up on the 29th of April. This will be held in conjunction with the regular Elders prayer meeting. Attendees are welcome to leave after the formal AGM or stay and join with the Elders in prayer.
WHEN: 7pm, Monday April 29 (AGM will finish around 7:30pm)
WHERE: The Wills room in the Life Centre, 21 Hania St, Mt Victoria.
Please contact office@thestreet.org.nz if you would like a copy of the AGM Agenda prior to the meeting.
For the first two weeks of April we continue learning the skills we need to study the Bible well. On the 7th Geneva will look at answering the question ‘who are these commands prescriptive for?’ and on the 14th, Mel will help us find the truths revealed in a passage.
Then we take a two week break for the school holidays and kick back off in May with our TOGETHER service at Wellington College.
We encourage every person who calls the Mt Vic Location home, to be involved in a serve team. We need everyone to play a part in serving one another as we gather to encounter Jesus. If you are not already on a team, we would love to help you find a place to serve. Click the button below and someone will be in touch.
We have specific needs in -
Kids Zone (creche - Year 8, security)
Connections Team (welcoming, carpark, security, communion, morning tea)
Worship Team (sound tech, media, up front)
Shared Lunch (set up, dishes)
Communication (website, social media)
3 March: This morning in Kids Zone, we are learning the difference between descriptive passages and prescriptive passages as we continue in our series learning important skills to help us read and understand the Bible.
10th March: This week in Kids Zone, we are learning what to do with descriptive passages of the Bible and how not every passage contains a lesson to be learned. We are using this as an opportunity to ask ourselves, “What does this passage reveal about God?”, so we can deepen our understanding and love for Him, and humble ourselves as we read His Word.
17th March: Today at Kids Zone we dive into a two week series on Easter. In this lesson we learn the incredibly special story and celebration of Easter is connected to other stories in the Bible. We take a quick look into some of the time periods of the Old Testament that we learnt about in 2023 and how these are connected with Jesus dying on the cross and being raised to life again.
24th March: In Kids Zone today, we continue to look at Easter. We zoom out a little and look at what prophecies and events are connected to what happened at Easter. We talk about events like Passover and the Last Supper, as well as looking at one of the Psalms Jesus and his disciples would have sung together.
If anyone loves to bake, we’d love to hear from you! We have a sign up sheet on planning center for baking for morning tea on Sunday. If you would like to be part of the baking team, get in touch with Jono by emailing jonathan.harkes@thestreet.co.nz
Unfortunately we have made the decision to cancel our gathering for this morning, as the extremely limited parking and difficult access mean it will be a challenge for many to make it. Instead, we are meeting in homes to watch the service online, and we will be meeting afterword for a shared picnic lunch at Scorching Bay at 12pm. We hope to see you there!
Our mission is "Helping people become followers of Jesus Christ", and our vision is to be a disciple-making movement that transforms Wellington and the world with the good news of Jesus Christ. We want to prioritise moments that inspire and equip us to "go" more!
The vision of The Send is to see every believer activated into their missional and evangelistic calling. The Send are running events around New Zealand this year, culminating in an 8-10 hour worship and prayer event at Mystery Creek in Hamilton in November. The Wellington event is happening on Monday, 13th May, at 7 pm at the TSB arena. Francis Chan and Andy Byrd will speak a message to mobilise and inspire God's people to make disciples. Tickets are only $2 and are available now.
Can we please encourage you to get along to this event? Together, we seek to see our city and the world transformed with the good news of Jesus Christ. For more information, see the video with Jenny and Jerram.
Our FIRST youth activity will be on Sunday 7th April! We’ll meet up after church and do lunch and board games. Following this first activity in April we will do monthly sessions with other fun events and deeper discussion times too. For parents, we’ll communicate via email so that you’re in the know for any updates.
If you’re keen to serve in our East youth ministry in some capacity please contact Timothy Teng on 021520527 or email timothytwe@gmail.com.
Come along to an evening of Scottish-styled fun, dancing the night away to live music. Hosted by our Night location, all ages are welcome!

We are one church that meets across multiple Locations. 'Together' plays a crucial part in ensuring we maintain unity and connection as well as encouraging everyone as we push forward with the Mission and Vision God has given us.
This will be a significant moment as we unite as six Locations to powerfully encounter the Living God! We’d love to see everyone there, so mark the date in your calendar and look out for registrations which open later this month. Check out this video from Mel for more information.
