Marriage: Summer Refresh

Marriage is less about the big milestones and more about the everyday relationship. Keeping a marriage thriving from the day you say 'I do', till death do you part, needs ongoing investment.

Choosing to do one thing every year to enrich your marriage feeds into this investment.

Since 2019, Families Ministry at The Street has produced a short, summer refresh sheet for married couples. Some simple ideas to reflect on and perhaps action over the summer to fuel the fire for the coming year.

New Location Pastor - Mt Vic

We are celebrating the appointment of Josiah Nevell as Location Pastor of our Mt Vic Location. This is an incredible answer to prayer and we are so grateful to God.

If you’re not a part of Mt Vic, you may recognise Josiah from leading worship online or at Together. He loves people and has a desire to walk alongside them through the highs and lows. He’s a gifted and humble leader who desires to see the church love Jesus more wholeheartedly. We are so looking forward to him joining the team.

His appointment is as an Associate Location Pastor which acknowledges he has the character and commitment to lead but needs time and investment to develop the experience. It means he has the same job description but will carry this out under the supervision of Simon for the first 12-18 months.

Please pray for Josiah as he steps into this new season. You can send encouragement and congratulations to him at josiah.nevell@thestreet.org.nz

New Location Pastors

Kia ora e te whānau, Simon and I are so excited to be back serving at East as Location Pastors, and as we step back into the role we just wanted to write a short note to you all about practically what it will look like in the near future. In case you weren't at the service last Sunday, we thanked and prayed for Dan and Hannah, and Simon and I were commissioned into the role. We shared that we will be doing it on a part time basis (6 hours/week each) and so we are continuing to lean into the great team culture Dan and Hannah have built. That means we lead alongside a growing Leadership Team, where every person plays the part that they have the capacity and the gifting to play.

Simon will continue to be involved in supporting at Mt Vic and will be at East 2 out of 4 Sundays until the end of the year, with a view to that being 3 out of 4 from the start of next year. I (Jenny) will continue to be at East 3 out of 4 Sundays and will use the other Sunday to visit and support other Locations across the city.

We are so expectant and hopeful for this next season of East's journey and we know that as we continue to press into prayer, our God will do more than we can ask or imagine. So happy to be on this journey with you all.

Much love, Simon and Jenny

Weekly Prayer for the City

Simon and Jenny have had on their hearts a desire to run a prayer gathering overlooking parliament. This area seems to be the epicentre of the darkness in our city and we want to contend for God to move right in the middle of it.
You are invited to join a weekly prayer gathering from 12-1pm on Thursdays (from 24th Oct) in the Wellington Cathedral of St Paul. This will take place in the Flag Tower over looking parliament. If you work, study, play or live in the city - come for any or all of it, as your schedule allows. It’ll also be open to other churches with a focus on praying for the city, nation and world

New Youth Pastor!

We are thrilled to share some exciting news for our Youth and Intermediate age ministry!

God has certainly gone before us and provided abundantly as we welcome Peter Crosson as our new Youth Pastor. Pete has a strong sense of calling to this role and is passionate about discipling and leading young people. He brings valuable experience, currently serving as a Youth Pastor in Island Bay and in wider Youth Ministry over a number of years. We are excited to see how God will work through him alongside both the Squad and Massive teams, and also as he works alongside our Locations to see our young people becoming multiplying disciple-makers.

Pete is currently finishing up his university studies and wrapping up a part-time youth role at another church, which he will continue until the end of the year. In the meantime, Jenny, Piper, and the rest of the team have a great plan in place to keep things running smoothly until Pete can join us full time.

We look forward to the future of our youth ministry and are confident that it is in good hands. If you have any questions or would like more information, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Christmas Service

Christmas is speedily approaching and we need to start thinking about what fun we can organise for our Christmas service this year. It will be happening on Sunday 8th December and we’d like to bring together a group of Christmas loving creatives to be involved in putting something together.

If you think you fit that category please speak to Jenny, or you can email her on jenny.gill@thestreet.org.nz

Kids Zone - October

The 6th of October is a school holiday weekend, and most of our services take a break from Kids Zone. Your children are welcome in the adult service and this is a precious time as a family (though perhaps a little more distracted!) Children learn from what is modelled to them, and these moments in an adult service are a wonderful learning opportunity.

October the 13th is our Together service at Wellington College. We have an amazing Kids Zone planned for creche aged to Year 8. The 3, 4, and 5 year olds will be focussing on God’s promise of a rescue plan through the story of Noah and the rainbow God placed in the sky. The Year 2 - Year 8’s will be treated to a Guest Speaker! Toby Gray, a young lad who is passionate about Jesus and sharing the Good News with children. Toby will be joining us to share what is on his heart from the story of Daniel.

On the 20th and 27th of Oct we start a new series called Pillars. These are the core pillars of belief the Church is built on. The WHOLE church will be interacting with this message. What a blessing for Kids Zone to be learning the same content. Kids Zone starts with Communion and then look at Orthodoxy.
