Pastors’ Pen - Sunday 25 November 2007

At the awards night on Friday night we celebrated God’s awesome work through the people of The Street. As we prepared for the event a number of thoughts struck me.

Firstly, it is such a joy to be part of a team of people so committed to reaching our city, nation and world with the gospel. Countless people at The Street serve according to their gifting in areas for which the Lord has given them a passion. That opens up the opportunity for the Lord to use willing servants to impact people’s lives and see them transformed for eternity.

Secondly, it has been such an encouragement to see how encouraging you are as a church. You recognize those around you who serve, you encourage them and inspire them to keep serving. It seems that you don’t take the ministry that others put into your life for granted; instead you are quick to affirm and encourage each other.

As we honoured people this year who have served, it gave us all opportunity to glorify the Lord - thanking him for the gifting and passion he has invested in people and standing in awe of the way he works through us to see other people transformed and built up in their faith as we all serve and do our part.

I encourage you to keep encouraging those who serve and if you’ve yet to step out into the adventure that is “serving” then be inspired - and give serving a go!

Blessings,
Nick and Sarah
