Kids’ Street Core Values

Safe 

It is vital that the kids who come along to Kids’ Street feel safe - physically, emotionally and spiritually. If the kids don’t feel safe then they won’t be able to enjoy themselves or learn about God, both of which are highly important to allow them to grow closer to Jesus.

Fun

It is a sure bet that if children aren’t engaged in the program or having fun, they won’t be learning - so we strive to make Kids’ Street a really fun place to be! We want to hear kids saying, “I can’t wait to go to Kids’ Street because it is so much fun!”

Child-focussed

It is so important that any children’s program is aimed at the children, not the adults, or the parents, or the leaders, but at the children. We want the kids to feel like Kids’ Street is their place and we want them to say, “I love Kids’ Street because everything there is about us kids.”

Outreach

In Mark 16:15 we are given the Great Commission to, “Go into the world and preach the good news to all creation.” At Kids’ Street we feel a great responsibility to fulfil this commission, and we want to reach out to the children within our church family, as well as to those children in Wellington’s inner city. We also want to impress this attitude of outreach onto the children that come to our Sunday program so that they will say things like, “I want to bring my friends along on Sunday because I enjoy learning about God so much and I want them to be able to enjoy it and learn about him too!”

Strong Biblical Foundation

In 2 Timothy 3:16-17 it says, “All scripture is God breathed”. We strongly believe in this and that the Bible is God’s word and that he speaks to us through it. This passage goes on to talk about scripture being, “Useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” We want to make sure that the children are equipped with the knowledge and skills they need for going out into the world and following Christ whole-heartedly. We hope that children will answer questions about the Bible with confidence and that they’ll say: “I learnt that at Kids’ Street!”

Family

Here at Kids’ Street we aim to have a positive influence on the children that come to our program, however, we strongly believe that the biggest influence that will be made on the kids will be from their families during the week. Therefore, we want to come alongside these families and work together with them to help their children to grow spiritually. This value also encompasses the fact that we aim to create a family atmosphere at Kids’ Street where we all care and look out for each other and  we are there for each other through the good times and the bad.
