CrossOver Business is geared to enabling people to connect at the church for the stated purpose of the following principles and goals:

  • To form a networking/referral group based around Christian values to encourage and develop business relations within the Christian community;
  • To create interest in joining our group by selling the benefits of earning referrals from fellow Christians, that in turn reconnects us to the work of God that we perform every day in everything we are involved in;
  • To be reminded by the sharing of others at the said gatherings about the work of God in successful dealings that the Lord has had a hand in (God’s hand in our success in the past week since we last met!);
  • To earn a reputation from non-believers that regardless of their beliefs, this networking group is something about which people will say, I need to be involved in this because there is just something about the values of Christians that make them great people to do business with. In this way we will be drawing in new people to get to know the Lord, and by our actions we will continue to be ambassadors of Christ.

The Concept

Men and Women gather for breakfast once a week on a Friday from 7:00 - 7:50 a.m. in the new cafe at The Street City Church. We either sit around in a large circle or at tables of eight or so and each of us has 1 minute to introduce ourselves and to share with the group what it is you do and what you are looking for in the way of business referrals. This will allow us all the opportunity of getting to know each other and have confidence in the skills of our fellow Christian friends, it will also allow us to gather information on what the skill base is of our church so that in the future we might extend a helping hand out into our community through free and even paid projects, the money for which can go back into our church for ministry.

First and foremost, this is an unashamedly Christian group initiative that is open to men and women inside and outside His church! This session is for both believers and non-believers, but we will not apologise and will never feel uncomfortable about the prayer that starts and ends our meetings and about “God’s hand in our success in the past week since we last met!” This is the most purposeful intent of such gatherings, God blesses believers! In a competitive commercial world our business worries are not just our own to burden, God is at hand to both:

  1. Help carry our burden
  2. Share in our successes

It’s just that at times when we need him most we forget to ask and to commit our problems to him. We often forget to thank him for our success as well. Every week we will be reminded of His grace and influence in every part of our lives.

This service will morph over time and in a year or two be something totally different than what it is in the second and third month so we should anticipate this and strategically plan for growth and change.
