The Worth of Christ

Jesus and Moses were both faithful to God Jesus as builder of the house, Moses as a servant within it Jesus is worthy of greater glory than Moses – we should fix our eyes on him.

Are we faithful to the word God has given us?
Are we faithfully serving in God’s house?
Are we fixing our thoughts on Jesus or on something else?

God Speaks

The letter to Hebrew Christians opens with some huge claims about Jesus Christ (chapter 1, vv 1-3):
1. Jesus is the Word of God

• Jesus Christ is the complete expression of God
• Jesus is the sole expression of the glory of God
• Jesus is the very image of God’s Person

2. Jesus is the Creator, Sustainer and Giver of Life

• Jesus is the Heir (Lawful Owner) of all things
• Jesus is the Person by and through Whom all things were made
• Jesus upholds all things by His mighty word of power

3. Jesus is the Sin-bearer

• Jesus provides the only way our sins can be cleansed
• Jesus offered Himself in our place
• Jesus is now seated on the throne of Heaven – He is LORD of all

The Bible declares Jesus is LORD of all.
We are encouraged to confess Him as LORD of our lives.

Jesus Above All

When Jesus walked the earth people were astounded at the miracles he performed, and at the authority he spoke with. They asked themselves, “Who is this Jesus?” The Bible teaches that one day Jesus will return to establish his kingdom, and on that day how we have responded to this question will determine our destiny. It is only by rightly knowing, and rightly responding to Jesus that we can know eternal life, and be saved from a fate worse than death.
